Project Christmas

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

So It’s that time of year again (Christmas) and this year really hasn’t been looking that great.  I’ve seen friends get laid off as well as family members and even myself.  I’m tired of looking for a job everyday, sitting on my ass and finding fewer and fewer employers as well as getting barely responses to my resumes I’ve been sending out.   Let’s face it, its the holidays and pretty much everyone is hired up for now, but we will persevere.  Let’s  make a difference this Christmas, rather than being slaves to finding a job for the man!  I know we all have responsibilities, but what do you have to lose?  We are not getting paid anyways, and some of us make unemployment to have some security.  (I have no unemployment FYI am not eligible.)

So if you are in the same boat or receiving unemployment or maybe you have some free time  then please listen to my suggestion….

I want to start a Web Filmmaking group called Project Christmas, where we all act as actors, directors, camera people, producers or, whatever you want to do.  We will collaborate making and telling stories and go out into the community and shoot them, perhaps we can use each others place for locations, whatever.  Looking for all ages and walks of life who want to participate if you have film talent that’s great but not required.  If you have kids and if they are not to young they can play too.

Let’s go out and make a difference!  I want to help you find your creativity and help empower you.  Let’s collaborate and come up with ideas and execute them into a finished product.

How about we do some interviews, and maybe go out into the community to help others like a homeless shelter or maybe bringing some gifts to children at the new cancer hospital near the main place mall.  We need to stop worrying and start living.

I am also offering a support group for people in need of job encouragement and job research.  Maybe we can review our resumes together, help each other while looking for work and maybe even do it together on our laptops.  It might sound ridiculous but I’m tired of being alone with a computer… need human contact don’t you, even contact with new people not just the usual friends and family.  We need to network.

We can make it through this tough time together.

So if your saying…what’s in this for me?  I can offer you my mini DV camera and a tripod to film our projects.  I know it’s not HD but if someone has one that they might want to use that’s great.  We are a team. I will also provide the editing of the videos and each participant will receive a copy to keep for themselves.

If you happen to find work, while we are together, please go and work.  You are by no means bogged down to help unless you want to.  We would all understand and be happy for you if you put money in your pocket.

I would like to meet daily so we can come up with something to show to the world what we are capable of.  We are not just worker bees but breathing, thinking, feeling, loving and creative teachers.  We have a purpose, we are not just a resume and a cover letter.

A little about me I’m 30 Female and I live in Orange County.
